Jesus’ call for us to follow him as disciples may be unsettling to us, because it implies a radical shift of allegiance from something or someone else. It would be natural to ask, “what are we getting ourselves into?” Following the previous episode, Darrell explains that Jesus’ promise to his first disciples is the same promise to us today: an ongoing revelation of God’s Heavenly kingdom on this Earth that successively transforms our lives into increasing Christ-likeness. Finally, Darrell underscores that this is not a challenge to us to change ourselves- an impossible task given our fallible strength - but instead an invitation to life transformed by God’s power alone.
